Why Parivartan

As the name suggests the Parivartan is for the little changes that can be brought in the life’sof poor, needy and underprivileged people.

Parivartan was conceptualised and founded by Ms. Romi Sharma, an actress , a writer and a social activist an accomplished artist recognized for her work in Jammu & Kashmir as well as at National Level. She is also a committed social worker engaged actively in welfare programmes and harbours asoft corner for the underprivileged and social upliftment including environmental issues or any other concern fostering support.

The journey of Parivartan as an NGO began in Jammu & Kashmir with the support of a team of people from all walks of life brought together for the sole motive of welfare of the downtrodden. it all started after understanding the needs of the people staying in slums with lot of difficulties. Further the requirement of children from a very poor background a team and their education need also became a focus area for the team. It has been slowly groomed single headedly into a NGO which has just started maturing.

Therefore, the seed which was sown at state level has grown into a plant and is now getting due recognition at National level. We strive to spread its roots to the remotest corners of the country in the spirit of welfare and make the goals set by us a reality. The NGO has been registered with the Registrar of societies, Govt of Jammu and Kashmir vide its registration number 1186-S dated 01 Apr 2019. It has also been registered Darpan ( Niti Aayog, Govt of India) with an Unique Id as Jk/2019/0237694.

Our Accomplishments

As the name suggests, Parivartan was instituted to bring about changes to make social justice a reality in our nation at all levels. The efforts of the government are undoubtedly remarkable for the benefit of the underprivileged and indigent. Yet, due to the large geographical expanse of India as well as diversified needs of different sections of the society, the need for further support by voluntary welfare organizations is irrefutable.

This is where this NGO steps in. Our aim of is to work at grassroot level to bring about radical changes in the society. Parivartan successfully undertook multiple programmes and produced commendable results. Some of these include-

  • Workshops and events at various locations in Jammu & Kashmir and Dwarka and North East Delhi for the benefit of underprivileged people and children. These events involved the distribution of basic necessities for maintenance of personal hygiene such as soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes along with an awareness campaign for educating the underprivileged people and children on the significance of maintenance of personal hygiene.
  • An awareness campaign for educating illiterate middle-aged women. It was directed towards educating these women regarding the use of sanitary napkins, maintenance of personal hygiene and informing them of the implications of living in unsanitary conditions such as cervical cancer and other health-related issues. The founder, Ms. Romi Sharma, herself addressed the issues and side effects related to menopause. Furthermore, young women and newly married women were sensitised to words methods of family planning herself conducted classes for side effects of menopause and related issues. They were also briefed about the facilities which are being offered by government hospitals free of cost.
  • Awareness campaigns to address the impoverished masses regarding the protection of women’s rights, significance of education of all, the government schemes for the welfare of the underprivileged, importance of maintenance of hygienic conditions, healthy living and proper nutrition.
  • Assistance to tribal people by motivating them to send their children to schools, providing them help in securing admissions for their children in government schools and distributing stationery items, textbooks and uniforms. Additionally, we support their families by providing them with the basic necessities such as food, clothing, medicines etc.
  • Recently, Parivartan took under its wing the Computer Literacy programme for underprivileged children.
  • The NGO has been thoroughly involved in the Covid -19 activities by distributing dry ration, cooked food and variety of daily need items.

Parivartan strives to bring a radical change in the living conditions of the indigent both by providing the necessary means and making them aware of the issues, their implications, their solutions and lastly the rights to which they are entitled.

Towards A Bright Future

At Parivartan, we are not only committed for the upliftment of the vulnerable and indigent but also intend to make considerable contribution for the improvement of the environment and promote sustainable living. We aim to educate people of the implications of their actions on the environment and emphasise on living in harmony with mother nature.

It is necessary to understand that our present actions should not stand in the way of the future generation’s right to a clean and healthy environment. Therefore, we are expanding our base continuously to incorporate this objective in our sphere of work.
