Parivartan Chairperson Romi Sharma Visits Poonch, Extends Support to Families Affected by Operation Sindoor
25 May, 2025
Chairperson of Parivartan NGO, Ms. Romi Sharma, visited Poonch — the border district severely affected during Operation Sindoor — to stand in solidarity with families living under constant threat near the Line of Control.
During her visit, she met bereaved families who lost their loved ones and others whose homes and livelihoods were damaged due to Pakistan shelling.
Ms. Sharma patiently listened to their pain, documented their challenges, and assessed their immediate and long-term needs. Parivartan extended support by standing with the victims emotionally, financially, and through continuous follow-up with concerned authorities. She also assured them of further assistance through government channels, district administration, and civil-society organisations.
Her visit focused on:
Providing emotional, moral, and financial support to affected families
Assessing property damage and livelihood loss in border villages
Identifying rehabilitation needs of women, children, and elderly residents
Ensuring their concerns reach the appropriate authorities
On her way back from Poonch, Ms. Sharma addressed a press conference in Rajouri along with local dignitaries, where media representatives discussed the ground situation in Poonch and the challenges faced by communities near the LoC. As President of Parivartan, she shared her observations, expressed concern for vulnerable families, and highlighted the urgent need for stronger rehabilitation measures.
Parivartan remains deeply committed to the welfare, dignity, and rehabilitation of border-area residents, continuing to stand with them through every challenge.
