Parivartan (Change We Need)Ngo 's Makar Sankranti: Spreading Joy Through Giving

Parivartan NGO celebrated Makar Sankranti by bringing smiles to many faces through the distribution of blankets, ration, sweets, and warm clothes.
On this auspicious occasion, nearly 65 people gathered for the celebration organized by Parivartan. The event began with the volunteers raising awareness about the significance of Makar Sankranti, followed by a Nazreen and Aarti.

Mrs. Madhu Modgil addressed the gathering, highlighting that Makar Sankranti is celebrated across India under various names and customs in each state. While regional practices differ, the underlying message of the festival remains the same: to foster togetherness, prosperity, and joy.

Mrs. Shipra Srivastava also shared her thoughts, emphasizing that Makar Sankranti is the festival, which celebrates food and unity, signifies new beginnings and the opportunity for renewal.
Makar Sankranti, meaning "movement," marks the transition of the sun’s journey, symbolizing abundance, joy, and prosperity. This festival, celebrated with various customs across India, reflects the nation's unity in diversity.
Romi Sharma, the founder and President of the NGO, aptly put it, "Makar Sankranti serves as a reminder of the importance of gratitude and new beginnings."
Mrs. Bhavna Bhargav, Mrs. Durga chetri, Mrs. Shalini Singh, Mrs Dalmiya,Mrs Gouri Saad and Mrs. Puja Jain, distributed blankets, ration, and sweets to those in need, bringing immense joy to the recipients.

Romi Sharma emphasized that Makar Sankranti not only highlights cultural values but also serves as an opportunity to share joy with the less fortunate. She quoted Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, “A joy shared is a joy doubled,” encouraging all to spread happiness through acts of kindness, such as providing health and education, which pave the way for prosperity.
Romi Sharma concluded by saying, "The smiles of those we help inspire us to continue our efforts and give back to society."
